A native of Ventura, CA, Danica has performed with numerous orchestras in Southern California, including the Golden State Pops Orchestra, San Fernando Valley Symphony, YMF Debut Orchestra, Central Philharmonic, Southeast Symphony, Idyllwild Symphony Orchestra, and more. Danica has also served as principal cellist in the Cal State Northridge Symphony Orchestra, Southland Symphony, and the Shafter Symphony. Additionally, she has played with professional orchestras under the direction of prestigious film composers John Williams, Bruce Broughton, Richard Sherman, Craig Safan, Lolita Ritmanis, Christopher Lennertz, and Jason Livesay. In 2011, Danica has served as cellist in the Samuel Goldberg & Sons Honors String Quartet, and has received a scholarship award for that position plus numerous other scholarships from the CSUN Music Department, including individual special recognition in the Symphony Orchestra in 2013.
Having ample performing and studio experience, Danica has contributed to several recording projects such as for Nickelodeon, Majic Pictures Productions, Brian Roth Productions, numerous USC and independent film scores, and many others. She also has had the privilege of performing with acclaimed artists such as Yoshiki of XJapan, Montell Jordan, Shahkar, JMSN, Hotdog, HAPA, DJ Skee of Skeetox/Skee.tv, and more. Her playing can be heard on television and radio promos for the likes of ABC’s “Scandal”, FOX’s “American Idol”, DVD/blu-ray release of “Catching Fire”, and has been featured on Playboy Radio broadcasting up to one million listeners. Danica also has toured internationally with 80s English New Wave trio When In Rome (UK), original artists of 1988 single “The Promise”.
In addition to her career as a freelance musician, Danica has an equally passionate love for teaching. She teaches privately in the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County areas, while holding a staff cello coach position at Los Cerritos Middle School and Westlake High School, assisting as cello coach at Madroña Elementary School, and serves as faculty low strings specialist and guest conductor at California’s ranked #1 middle school music program, Lindero Canyon Middle School. She has previously worked for the CSUN Youth Orchestras as staff assistant, section coach, audition juror, guest conductor and assistant instructor.
Danica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from Cal State University, Northridge.
